Knitting Yarns-Beachcomber DK

Beachcomber DK is one of Sirdar’s Summer offerings. As with many summer offerings from British spinners Beachcomber DK is made of 100% Cotton. The natural cotton with a slub texture makes this yarn very very soft. Lovely for Summer.

But first the blurb. Boring I know but we need to know these things:-

Blend: 100% Cotton
Ball weight: 50g
Yardage: 153yd/140m
Needle size: 4mm
Tension: 22 stitches, 28 rows to 4 inches / 10 cm on 4mm needles
Yarn no.: F099

It is a machine washable, standard double knitting yarn and will knit to all of Sirdar’s double knitting patterns.

Pattern support consists of 20 dedicated patterns but this yarn knits to any DK pattern.

This yarn is currently available in 16 colours

Colours 265 White Sands and 266 Driftwood are the 2 colours that have been added to the range this year.

Sirdar’s stated aim with this yarn is to explore various colour effects that evoke a perfect summer’s day. This does sound a bit like an episode of the Great British Menu (well worth watching if you like cookery programmes). The mixture of colours are all white or cream with selections of reds, blues and other colours which does remind me of the Best Of the British Summer.
The feel of cotton which is traditionally knitted in summer does add to the summer theme but as with all cottons more and more people are choosing to knit this all year round.
